We are so very blessed to have you. Volunteers are intricate to our ministry here at Oasis and we cannot function at full efficiency without you. Our desire is to set an atmosphere where women can learn, grow, get encouragement through the fostering of community and find hope through the love of Jesus Christ.

We want to run an efficient, professional type of environment, while maintaining the warm, nurturing environment that Oasis is known for. We want every potential volunteer to ponder your decision with much prayerful consideration. We want to make sure that every woman who dedicates their time know and understand fully the this kind of commitment.

this is not a paid position, and because of that many people consider it “not a big deal”. if that is you.. then you probably need to find another place to volunteer. (See Oasis mission, vision, and covenant can be found on the front page of the training manual.)

Here at Oasis of Kingsport Women’s Ministry we ask that your commitment be according to Col 3: 23-24, which states, 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. 24 Since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as an award. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Do it for Jesus and consider this your mission field and whatever you do… Do it as unto the Lord!!

You don’t have to dig wells in Africa to be on the mission field. The greatest mission field is the one you see when you look around our city and consider that many are hurting, addicted, lonely, and unloved. Every encounter you have is an opportunity to let Jesus shine BIG in and through you.

Here we all have something in common: We are all women. No matter what stage or walk of life the commonalty is that which we were assigned upon our creation. Here we do not discriminate based on male or female or sexual preference but we do maintain an environment rooted and grounded in the teachings of the Bible, to which we know undoubtedly to be the word of God. That being said, love always wins. We will embrace every woman, family, and individual with the love of Jesus Christ and will handle every precious soul with care. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 4:8 “that LOVE covers a multitude of sins”.

If we set an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit and the Word of God are welcome and active, then these powers themselves cultivate change and growth in the hearts of all who believe. We cannot force change, but faith and love are powerful motivators.

Women are God’s creation, created with unique and specific qualities. There are so many negative influences in the World that tell women that their worth is based on body image, sexuality, attention, wealth etc. The fact is that most women feel lonely, do not trust other women, or feel inferior in the presence of other females.

There have been thousands of peer reviewed, collegiate research, including extensive literature review and various created measures on the subject of women’s behaviors. Some mainstream brands have even used this research as a marketing tool, with the most recent being Dove. Collegiate researchers from schools of Psychology around the World such as, South Wells, Sydney, SNW, and Ottawa CA, are just to name a few. These studies have have shown common results in that women have a tendency toward “Catty Behaviors”. Let’s face it ladies sometimes we just aren’t nice to each other. Well the fact is that studies say (Vaillancourt, Feldman) that “Women tend to engage in more indirect forms of aggression than other types of aggression. Tracy Vaillancourt, a professor at the university of Ottawa and lead author maintains that gossip, back stabbing, and shunning have evolved as effective ways for women to maximize the damage on their intended target while minimizing the dangers to themselves.” (Talk stats during training)

The world gave us the Kardashians, mean girls, Pretty little liars and a slew of other non—examples for us to turn from. Here the ground is level at the foot of the cross. Keep your opinions in your pocket, your heart full of grace for one another, and above all let your actions reflect Christ.(A three fold cord is not quickly broken, two is better than one, one can put 1,000 to flight but 2 can put 10,000 to flight. ( 4 9-12, Deut. 32:30, Josh 23:10)) “How good and pleasant it is that we dwell together in unity” Psalm 133

The scripture is clear.  Proverbs 6:16-19

“These six things does the Lord hate: seventh one is an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift to run to mischief, A false witness who speaks lies, (7)And he / she that seweth discord.”

At the Oasis of Kingsport we wish to reflect Christ in our interactions with one another. Our culture will be a culture of honor. A culture that reflects mercy, grace, and love for one another.

We know well that there is no way we can be perfect. Perfection is not obtainable in this life but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive to give God our very best. We are not perfectionist we are Execellentarians.
